Meet our speaker:
Ramona Harris

Counselor, Spiritual Director, Author

Ramona Harris recently retired as a community college counselor. She is a current faculty member for the Stockton Diocesan School of Ministry and continues as a spiritual director (since 2005), trained at the Sisters of Mercy Center, Burlingame. As a former team member of the Institute for Catholic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction, she helped lead a three-year training program for spiritual directors in the Stockton diocese. She also enjoys providing supervision to spiritual directors.

Additionally, Ramona has authored a book entitled, Awakening the Mystic in You: Messages of Light from the Christian Mystics, and an inspirational card deck entitled, The Wisdom of the Christian Mystics. She penned an article for the Presence Journal (Spiritual Directors International) entitled, 10 Steps to Awaken Your Inner Mystic and Enhance the Practice of Spiritual Direction.

Ramona has presided as a spiritual director at retreats for cancer patients and their families through the Cancer Center of St. Joseph’s hospital, Stockton. She has also presented several day retreats on the topic of Christian mystics, for religious associates, the Sonora community, St Patrick’s parish in Sonora, the Catholic Social Guild of Modesto and the Institute for Catholic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction program.

Formerly, Ramona worked for the Diocese of Stockton as a Safe Environment Coordinator. A member of St. Jude’s parish in Ceres, she has done a variety of volunteer parish work over the years, e.g. religious education teacher, music ministry, RCIA ministry, pre-Baptism classes, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society parish food bank ministry.

Ramona has a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies as well as a Master’s degree in Education, school counseling. She had a long career in social services as a probation officer and social worker prior to her community college work.

Ramona enjoys and is kept busy with her family which includes three lovely daughters, a son, and eight beautiful grandchildren.
